No matter what you get, don't cheap out and not get roller bearings in the slides. They have a LOT more space that is usable. All of my tools in that box stuffed filled less than half my used Snap On. It DOES hurt to buy one, but I had a Crapsman top and bottom with two intermediate boxes that totaled over 6' tall. Just seems like too much money for a steel box. He I'm sure has the dealers on speed dial, he is always buying something. If you need names and numbers, I have a friend that wrenches in FredNeck. There are deals for name brand stuff if you are patient and have some time to look. It is one of the best investments I ever made for tools. 20 years later I have had 0 problems with it and it just works. I sprung for a SnapOn in 97band it was about half of new. Maybe call a few and talk to them to see what they have. You can buy a lot of tools for the difference. Picked up a second one last week for 350. Was less than 1000 for the whole thing and after 4 or 5 years with it I like it every bit as well as the Snap On box of my grandfathers (why it wasn't stolen and my crappy ones were I'll never figure out ) that sits 10 feet away. I've got a Torin complete toolbox I got at TSC after my first set of used boxes got stolen. It was right when they went away from the crinkle finish and to the "new" smooth red glossy. I got them way back when you could still get a coupon for $329ea. I forgot they also make those bigger ones, my original plan for the 3- 44" bottoms was to take wheels off and build them into the bottom of new workbench. Other drawers all filled with wrenches, never an issue with a drawer.

On the third I keep hand tools in I put all 3/4" drive stuff in the big bottom drawer, never had a slide issue and it is clear full of sockets, ratchets and breaker bars. Lasted 7 years using it for a work bench.

I took two of the bottom's put them together back to back, reversed wheels on one and put an expanded steel top on it for a portable work bench with a vise. For the price of them I could outfit my whole shop wall.ĭon't know what you plan on doing. Guess I need to make a trip up to look at them. What's good?īehog - 18:24 Are the harbor freight ones going to hold up? The store is 45 mins away. Can usually find a hundred dollar off coupon to make them an even better deal. I wouldn't say they are snap on quality but they are heavy, well built, I've been happy with mine. For the price of them I could outfit my whole shop wall. What's good?Īre the harbor freight ones going to hold up? The store is 45 mins away. I don't have $11K total in tools and can still do all they can and probably have more specialty stuff. I have relatives that were just giddy when they "stole" a $20Kish snap on box the size of a car for a mere $11K or some such thing years ago from a guy needing to sell it. With coupon they are around $400 bottom $300 top. I like Harbor Freights 44" lowers, tops are made the same way but already had a craftsman to put on top. I thought I had a lot of tools but apparently not. Can lift with a forklift without damaging it. Heavy built and pretty cheap for what you get. Mike said they were building some stuff for Snap On currently at farm show. Great boxes MUCH less $$$$ than Snap On and as good or better. Kankakee Il will build what size & colors you want

I am not spending 20k for snap on like everyone else That will hold up and won't break the bank. Sick of having stuff in 15 different places in cabinets we have collected over the years. I need to break down and get a tool chest.
